When the opener runs but the door does not

A disengaged trolley, worn drive gear, damaged belt or chain, or a heavy door can produce similar symptoms. A technician checks the door's mechanical condition before evaluating the motor, rail, trolley, and drive assembly. Replacing an opener alone will not fix a broken spring or a binding door.

  • Motor and head-unit troubleshooting
  • Drive gears, belts, and chains
  • Rail and trolley problems
  • Emergency release issues
  • Door locks and automatic locking problems

Sensors, travel, and safety reversal

A door that reverses, stops early, or flashes its lights may have a blocked or misaligned photo-eye, damaged wiring, mechanical resistance, or a control fault. Travel and force behavior must be assessed against the model's instructions. Safety devices must never be bypassed to make a door close.

  • Photo-eye alignment and sensor replacement
  • Sensor and low-voltage wiring faults
  • Travel-limit issues
  • Force-setting and safety-reversal faults
  • Electronic control boards and model-specific error codes

Remotes, keypads, Wi-Fi, and backup power

Intermittent response can involve remote batteries, programming, interference, a wall control, or the opener's receiver. Connected controls also depend on compatible hardware and a reliable network. Beeping can indicate a backup-battery warning or another model-specific condition; the manual and exact model help identify it.

  • Remote programming and replacement
  • Wireless keypad setup
  • myQ connectivity troubleshooting
  • Wi-Fi setup and smart-control compatibility
  • Battery-backup assessment
  • Clicking, flashing, beeping, and inconsistent operation

Chain-drive openers

Chain-drive systems use a metal chain to move the trolley. They can suit many conventional sectional doors, but noise and vibration depend on installation and door condition. Correct sizing and model compatibility matter more than drive type alone.

Belt-drive openers

A belt replaces the chain in the drive assembly. These are often considered where sound near a living space matters. A belt-drive opener still needs a balanced, freely moving door and properly mounted rail.

Wall-mounted and specialty openers

Wall-mounted jackshaft systems can free up ceiling space on suitable torsion-shaft doors. Shaft geometry, clearance, door travel, cable behavior, and automatic-lock requirements determine compatibility. Direct-drive and other specialty systems need model-specific evaluation; ask us to confirm support before requesting a particular installation.

Brand and model compatibility

We work on all major opener brands, including LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Overhead Door, Linear, Marantec, Sommer, Ryobi, and commercial operators from LiftMaster, Manaras-Opera, and Overhead Door. Provide the model number and a photo when requesting service so we can bring the right parts. No manufacturer authorization or dealership status is implied.

Common questions

Why is my opener beeping?

Depending on the model, it can indicate backup battery status, an alert, or a system fault. Note when it beeps and any indicator lights, then check the manufacturer's explanation or request model-specific troubleshooting.

Should I repair or replace my opener?

The failed component, age, compatible parts, safety features, and overall condition guide that decision. The door must also be checked so a new opener is not installed on a damaged or unbalanced system.

Why will the door close only sometimes?

Sensors, loose wiring, track resistance, sunlight interference, and control faults are possible causes. Never disable the sensors; a technician checks both the mechanical door and the opener's safety system.

During your service appointment

Tell us what changed, how the equipment behaves, and whether access or security is affected. We inspect the relevant components and discuss suitable repair or replacement options. Damage, compatible parts, access, and the system's condition determine the work needed. Your preferred appointment window is a request and requires confirmation.
